We are looking for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees

Are you passionate about driving positive change within our community? We are on the lookout for a dedicated individual to step into the role of Honorary Treasurer. As a vital member of our Board of Trustees, you will play a strategic part in shaping the future of A Heart for Duns.
A Heart for Duns is a charity which runs the Volunteer Hall and many of the events that happen there but is also involved in other community initiatives, particularly under the Community Led Planning banner. Our governing body is a Board of Trustees, and there are currently 10 trustees. We are looking to appoint a new Honorary Treasurer as soon as possible.
This is a strategic role rather than a involving financial duties as these will be the responsibility of our Finance Manager. The Treasurer will:
- Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place. o Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
- Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.
The person who takes on the role will liaise with our Financial Manager and be responsible for regularly reporting to the Board at our meetings, which are held once a month.
If you are interested in being involved in a local charity that is ambitious, seeks to serve the local community and increase opportunities for social interaction, or have any questions, then please email accounts@aheartforduns.org.
POTENTIAL TRUSTEES OR COMMITTEE MEMBERS
We are also looking for suitably skilled volunteers who would like to be involved in other aspects of the organisation. We have sub-committees for running the Hub (the Hall and its estate); Events; Community Development; Marketing & Communications; and Finance. Trustees are expected to be involved in at least one of these committees but they also include volunteers who are not trustees but are interested in a particular sector of the work that we do.
If you are interested or want to know more then please contact Andrew Lester at alester2020@gmail.com.
We look forward to hearing from you.
