Billy Bowser’s here to help!
Our most tough and rugged volunteer, there’s no doubt you’ll have seen Billy Bowser hard at work around town!
Most likely out helping the Keeping Duns Blooming Marvellous team, Billy also has a shiny trailer that can hold all sorts, so is available to help you with any jobs that involve moving things around Duns and the local area!
Hiring Billy
- Billy is generally available to help 7-days a week, between the hours of 9am – 5pm.
- Billy comes complete with a volunteer driver, and even some volunteer muscle if you need help with your task or project. Tell us what you need help with when you get in touch.
- We ask for a donation to help us cover Billy’s insurance and other running costs, and suggest a minimum of £10.

Good to know
- Billy is looked after by the team at Keeping Duns Blooming Marvellous (KDBM), and kindly maintained by Reiver Garage Services in Duns.
- Billy is all-electric, with a maximum range of 15-20 miles and a maximum speed of 25mph, so can help in Duns and the surrounding areas – and has been seen as far afield as Chirnside!
- Billy comes with a volunteer driver, you can’t drive Billy yourself.
- Billy can be used to help transport things to the tip, to help with moving house, or any manner of things as long as it’s safe to do so. If you need help with getting things to the tip, please check opening times and ensure that the items you want to take will be accepted. If you’re unsure, tell us and we can advise.
- If you need additional help with lifting heavy items onto/off the trailer, please let us know in advance as we may be able to get some additional voluntary help.
- In rare circumstances, our volunteer may arrive and find that it’s not safe or possible to assist with your task, we appreciate your understanding if this is the case.
- Your donation goes 100% to helping KDBM to cover Billy’s costs such as insurance (which has gone up a lot!), please gift generously!
