A non-professional group creating excellent theatre through the sharing and development of performance and production skills.  Duns Players host DunsPlayFest, an annual celebration of new dramatic writing and will feature work by playwrights from the Borders and Edinburgh. Duns and District U3A

The University of the Third Age movement started in France in 1974 and spread to England in 1982 and to Scotland in 1987. The parent body of U3A is the Third Age Trust, based in Bromley, Kent. Their mission statement has the following message:

– The aim is to facilitate the growth of the U3A movement;
– To provide support for management and learning in U3As;
– To raise the profile of the U3A movement;
– To promote the benefits of learning in later life through self-help learning.

Duns Summer Festival, or Reivers Week celebrates the town‘s history and traditions in a week of sports, concerts, horse riding and parades. Held in early July, the festival includes sports, music, dancing, children’s entertainments, a Common Riding of the Parish Bounds, and the traditional Handba’ game in the Market Square.
